Dexter star Jimmy Smits stabbed a stuntman with a real knife by accident!!!
Jeff Chase narrowly escaped disaster when, by pure luck, the actor hit the small plate of plastic protecting Chase’s heart instead of flesh. In most of the previous takes, Smits had missed his mark with the prop knife.
Chase, who was bound and gagged for the scene, could do nothing as he watched Smits grab the real knife instead of the fake one and plunge the weapon into him. By the time fellow actor Michael C. Hall realized Smits’ error it was too late.
Stunt work sounds dangerous!!!
Chase – who we’re sure has seen a lot of injuries in his profession – brushed it off, just thankful to be alive. He said, “Jimmy was devastated and couldn’t stop apologizing. I told him, I felt more sorry for him than me.”
Why would you keep a real knife near a fake one????
