Radiohead’s Thom Yorke is foreseeing the end of the major labels in the music industry.
Way to see the obvious, pal!
Thom urges young musicians to resist the temptation of signing a big record deal as he believes all the labels will “completely fold” within months.
Months? Nah! A few more years maybe though.
Still, the British rocker and his boys believe it enough to break away from their long time label, EMI, and released their latest album themselves over the Internet. Furthermore, Thom feels so adamantly in warning upcoming artists of the dangers of a record deal, that he even sat down for an interview for a new high school textbook called The Rax Active Citizen Toolkit. He said:
“It will be only a matter of time – months rather than years – before the music business establishment completely folds. (It will be) no great loss to the world.”
Sure will put a lot of people out of work! That can’t be very good, can it?
