Watch This Influencer Almost DIE Filming An Underwater Stunt For His TikTok Account!

Influencer Jason Clark trapped under water for TikTok stunt

A TikTok star who nearly drowned while filming a stunt for his account wants all the young, impressionable viewers who follow him to know one thing: if at first you almost die, try again!

Jason Clark (above) took to social media this week to open up about a near-death experience he had while documenting a very dangerous underwater physical challenge for his outdoor adventure account.

In the post, Clark, who has garnered over 403,000 followers as @jasontodolist on TikTok, said his goal was to swim a certain distance under a sheet of ice on a frozen lake. But his plans were thwarted by the fact that he couldn’t actually see the exit hole while trapped under the ice — so he legit almost died while frantically retreating back to the entrance hole!

The upload included a video of the distressing incident, showing Clark taking a large breath before plunging into the ice water. He then swims a couple of dozen feet to his destination, but appears to get lost and struggles to find an opening in the ice.

He explained in the caption:

“I have never been this close to dying. I didn’t think my eyeballs would freeze so quick. The surface of the water where the hole was didn’t look any different than the bottom of the ice. When I flipped around and felt solid ice I thought I was at the hole.”

After struggling to find the exit, Clark said he followed his trail of “dust” he had kicked up back to the entrance. However, the particles had drifted off and led him away from the entrance hole, causing him to fear he “wasn’t going to make it.”

He continued:

“I then tried to break the ice with my back, you can see in the video. I don’t know what made me turn around one last time. I was so short on breath I couldn’t really see anymore. I had accepted that was it and I wasn’t going to make it.”

Miraculously, Clark found himself back under the entrance, thinking it was “a lighter spot of ice.” He noted that it “took 2-3 breaths to regain [his] vision after resurfacing,” adding that the cameraperson filming “didn’t recognize the severity of the situation” until after he caught his breath.

Ch-ch-check out the intense botched stunt (below).

Instagram users weren’t so much marveling over the death-defying stunt as they were scolding Clark on how “lucky” he was to be alive. One commenter wrote:

“I’m glad you made it, but holy s**t was this asking for trouble. Include a rope. A waterproof strobe of some sort. Hell, a sledgehammer, an auger, a pre-determined SOS signal and procedure for your spotter, something. I have heart palpitations every time I watch this.”

But like any good adrenaline junkie, Clarke didn’t let the icy breath of death stop him from trying the stunt a second time.

In a follow-up post, the influencer told his followers that he “added a little more safety” in his second attempt by making sure the exit hole was “comically big” so he could find it underwater. He wrote:

“Second attempt went a little better. You have to try it twice!”
