TikToker Has Child Taken Away After Jokingly Wrapping Child In Saran Wrap

A TikTok mom’s little boy was taken away after concerned viewers reported her to the police over a joke video.

Social media user Savannah Glembin posted a video to her TikTok account which showed her husband and her son, Gunner, playing. The toddler had been wrapped in saran wrap from his neck to his knees, restraining his arms, as his dad played with him on a bed and rolled him around. The father even playfully called his son a “worm” as he lied him down on the bed all the while Savannah filmed it. She wrote in the caption of the original video:

“Got a grumpy toddler all day? This is the only way”

The short video quickly received massive backlash online and was promptly deleted, but user @auntkaren0 reposted some of the footage and raised concerns about the act.

They believe the entire situation was dangerous and the child could’ve overheated, saying in their response video on Sunday:

“I don’t understand what’s funny here. I don’t understand how putting your toddler in an uncomfortable position and pushing him is funny. And then posting it for views? … This is why I don’t like family channels like this. Because they will go through any lengths to put their children in terrible positions for clout and views.”

Quickly, Savannah tried to clear the air and responded to auntkaren0’s video, writing:

“I made the biggest mistake of my life posting this video. genuinely and truly he was laughing and smiling and he was out of the plastic in under 5 min”

The callouts went on, though, and auntkaren0 wasn’t having it — they made ANOTHER response video and continued to express their concerns:

“Respectfully but disrespectfully Savannah, do you realize that at no point did it look like he was smiling and laughing in that video?”

With the comments heavily agreeing and even stating the mom’s actions were “abuse,” social media users were shocked to find out Savannah actually got Gunner taken away from her after concerned viewers called the police:

“Right now we’re dealing with a situation where Gunner has been taken from us until CPS can evaluate our home. I posted a video of my husband and son playing, and that video was strewed in a way as to people thinking we were abusing our child.”

Yeesh. Child abuse is a very serious thing to accuse someone of over one short clip…

She went on to say she wrapped her son in plastic playfully because he’d been meddling earlier in the day, citing he was “trying to get in the stove” and trying to “put a fork in a socket.” The momfluencer went on to say her son had plenty of room to move, wasn’t in distress, and wasn’t crying about the situation. In tears, she said:

“We would never hurt our son. Like, we would never hurt our child.”

Luckily, on Monday Savannah posted another update and said Gunner was safely returned to them after CPS cleared up the situation. She wrote in the caption:

“CPS cleared us of wrongdoing and determined our home, with us, is a safe one for our son, despite that…a hard lesson was learned, a mistake we will never make again, this weekend was extremely traumatic for us as a family and will be taking time away to heal.”

What do U think, Perezcious readers? Did viewers take this situation too far or did they do the right thing by alerting CPS? Clearly it seems CPS realized it wasn’t a big deal after all. Sound OFF with your thoughts in the comments (below).
