We’ve long considered some of Tilda Swinton‘s acting roles – and even some of her fashion choices – to be performance art, but now, she has seemingly allowed her entire SELF to become a piece for observation in the world of creative self-expression!
Yesterday, the actress spent the entire day fast asleep inside a glass box at the MoMA in New York City, as part of a piece called “The Maybe,” which she will apparently repeat “half-dozen more times” before the end of the year!
According to a statement from the MoMA:
“An integral part of The Maybe‘s incarnation at MoMA in 2013 is that there is no published schedule for its appearance, no artist’s statement released, no museum statement beyond this brief context, no public profile or image issued. Those who find it chance upon it for themselves, live and in real-shared-time: now we see it, now we don’t.”
And get this!
When it comes to long-term sleeping in a glass box with nothing but a mattress, pillows, linens and a water jug, Tilda is an old PRO!
The 52-year-old has snoozed at London’s Serpentine Gallery in 1995, and a year later in the Museo Barracco in Rome!
Ch-ch-check her out (above)!
Anyone else battling some serious YAWNS right now?! LOLz!
