Who would’ve thought that Lifetime’s biopic Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B could’ve caused so much controversy?
The film has basically had issues since its inception, with Aaliyah’s family totally not being cool with the movie. They didn’t let a single song of hers appear in the film.
The family wasn’t the only ones showing their disapproval, though… Aaliyah’s former music producer and mentor Timbaland was OUTRAGED.
He was depicted in the film and must not have been happy with the results because he went NUTS on Instagram after the movie’s Saturday debut.
He started by sharing a poster for the movie and wrote:
“Hope yall not watching this!!!!!!!!”
Then came a barrage of memes about the movie. Some examples:
LOLz! Clearly he feels he wasn’t accurately portrayed in the movie!
Timbaland eventually calmed down and realized all he was doing was promoting the film, so he shared one more post and wrote:
“Ok ok ok I’ve think I’ve made my point on how I feel so plsss don’t ask me just go to @timbaland and u will see but a fan said to me Timbo chill Man U just blowing the shit up and I said true statement so fans ain’t shit we can do what’s done is done but what we can do is not feed into nomore but I will speak on it loud and clear !!!!!!!! Stay I will announce the time and place soon !!!!!!! Yes the whole world will hear!!!!!!stay tune”
Maybe he’s planning on making his own biopic about the Aaliyah movie and he’s gonna misrepresent all the movie execs in his film? Ha!
Or is he gonna post more hilarious memes? (We recommend checking out his Instagram and just clicking around… LOLz!)
Either way, we think the best way to celebrate Aaliyah’s memory is to blast Are You That Somebody and just be glad we still have her music to remember her by.
