Noooo!
I guess deep down we all knew this wasn’t the most legitimate video to circulate the internet (as most aren’t), but we so wanted to believe that this cool technology existed!
It was like something out of a science fiction movie when a video showed up of two guys wirelessly hacking video screens around Times Square (above).
We’re sad to report that it was indeed a fake, brought to us by some very clever advertisers who call themselves Thinkmodo. They were the same guys behind that famous Central Park engagement video, which also turned out to be fake.
It’s always a little disappointing to see behind the curtain, but when you really listen to the creators when they say they see what they do as art, you can’t help but be blown away by how easily they got us all to believe.
One of the creators had this to say about hoaxes maybe turning people off from the product:
“It’s about questions in advertising rather than truth in advertising,” he replied, while pointing out the plump buttery shrimp you see in a Red Lobster ad “aren’t real either.”
So true.
We say these videos are amazing and harmless, and they can keep tricking us all they want! It’s always wonderful to see creativity, regardless if it’s just a hoax, as long as nobody is getting hurt!
Are U upset this was a hoax??
