According to some reports, the doctor was devastated by the character of Dr. Franff, played by Martin Short, in the hit Netflix sitcom Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Many believed the mocking caricature was based off him.
While the “Baron of Botox” was deeply hurt by the Tina Fey-created show, sources close to him claim it wasn’t the ultimate reason why he decided to end his life. At the time of his death, he was reportedly suffering from depression.
On Monday, the 30 Rock actress’ husband Jeff Richmond, who is an executive producer on the comedy, spoke out regarding the surgeon’s passing to DailyMail.com.
He said:

“That’s very sad. I don’t know anything about it. I just got home. Tina might know, I don’t. She’s not home.”

Fey has yet to comment.
Our thoughts go out to Dr. Brandt’s friends and family during this difficult time.
