WHAAAT??? Courtroom wiretapping? Guess this is how TMZ does it…
Well, maybe. A new lawsuit has been filed by Alpha Walker — a man who on May 16th, 2012 was accused of attempting to extort Stevie Wonder — in California federal court alleging that TMZ has been placing hidden microphones in courtrooms.
Apparently, a microphone registered to TMZ’s parent company EHM Productions was presently recording during Alpha├óΓé¼Γäós hearing, despite his attorney├óΓé¼Γäós objection to the presence of media. This request had been approved by the case├óΓé¼Γäós Judge Ray Jurado, who later discovered the microphone on the bench.
The complaint reveals that ├óΓé¼┼ôthese privileged communications were instantaneously transferred to the headquarters of TMZ Enterprises.”
The microphone, that belonged to media representative Christopher Manivong, was taken for review by Judge Jurado and the attorneys, none of whom found anything suspicious on the recording. However, attempts to have TMZ destroy the recordings based on the Judge’s original orders to remove media tech failed as well.
Hence Alpha├óΓé¼Γäós lawsuit that is seeking $100,000 in actual damages and more in punitive for “wiretapping, invasion of privacy, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and eavesdropping on confidential communication.” The complaint also claims the experience as having caused the plaintiff ├óΓé¼┼ôtremendous fear and distrust of the judicial system├óΓé¼┬¥ and a violation of attorney-client privilege.
YIKES! These are serious claims to make. Doesn’t sound too good, TMZ.
