Cruise Speaks On Travolta Death

With all the recent talk about the tragic death of John Travolta‘s 16-year-old – son along with Scientology leaders having to defend their “religion” – it was only a matter of time before Tom Cruise spoke out.

In an interview with the ladies of The View taped Thursday, Cruise talked about the loss of Jett Travolta. He said, “It’s horrific. It’s just horrific. Here you have a man, both of them doting parents, they’re wonderful people and …”

But of course he also speaks out in defense of Scientology. And in reference to the statement that Scientology discourages the use of certain medications and medical care, Tom has his own opinions.

Cruise says, “That’s just not true. It’s actually false. They say, ‘Get your physical, get your medication, get your physical illnesses handled.'”

Sounds a bit contradictory to the comments Cruise had once made about Brooke Shields using medication to treat her postpartum depression. Oh, right, that’s a “mental” illness.

As for Jett and his parents, Cruise says, “I remember Jett when he was born. I saw him when he was just a few months old and John just adored him, and both of his children, and Kelly. I just don’t have the words for it.”

Tom’s episode will air this Friday.
