We recently reported scandal in the skateboarding world since Tony Hawk divorced his wife Lhotse Merriam (pictured above) for his best friend and business partner’s wife, Cathy Goodman!
What initally sounded like an extreme sports scandal is starting to sound like, well, no big deal at all.
In a recent interview, Matt Goodman opened up about his BFF of 20 years starting to date his wife and is surprisingly “totally cool” with it, saying:
“I know people will think it is strange but I’m totally cool with it. I had split up with Cathy over a year ago and she started dating Tony about seven months ago.”
Oh. Okay. As long as he’s cool with it.
In fact, he’s way ahead of these two and even has a new girlfriend himself, but despite the bizarre circumstances, he continues to wish his friend well, saying:
“I knew Tony was not happy with Lhoste and I hope he finds that (happiness) with Cathy – they have known each other a long time.”
Matt may be fine with this change, but we still feel bad for Hawk’s wife. She found out he was having an affair after discovering airline tickets he purchased for Cathy to join him in San Francisco in December. Poor girl.
Goodman had filed for divorce from Cathy several months ago and that contrary to reports he is no longer a business partner with Hawk, parting ways in 2002. He now shoots advertising videos and just wants to move on, saying:
“Life can be strange but I bear no grudges and just want to move on with my life now.”
Dang, we wish we were this laid back. Ha!
We wish all parties involved the best as they move on with their lives and try to find happiness!
