A clearer picture is coming into focus in the wake of Naomi Pomeroy’s tragic death.
As family, friends, and fans alike continue to be shocked by the death of the Top Chef alum, her husband is coming forward with more details about what exactly happened. As we reported hours ago, the Benton County Sheriff’s Office revealed that she died in a freak paddle boarding and inner tubing accident over the weekend after being “pulled under the water and unable to free herself due to the paddleboard leash” in rough currents on the Willamette River in Oregon. But rough currents weren’t the only thing that led to Naomi’s death…

Her husband Kyle Webster revealed to the New York Times on Tuesday that it was a branch that he, his late wife, and the friend who accompanied them on the trip all struck which ultimately led to Naomi’s death. He noted the rogue branch was partially underwater, and when the trio came into contact with it, it caused them to plunge into the rough river. Sadly, Naomi never surfaced from that collision.
So, so sad.
As we know, Kyle and the friend managed to make it to shore, but Naomi never did. Even now, search and rescue teams are still searching for her body. She was reportedly not wearing a life jacket. Kyle told the outlet:
“Naomi was pretty advanced in her understanding of this cool ride we’re on. She was more at peace in the last six months than she ever was before. She said she had done everything she was put here to do.”
Just terrible and so heartbreaking. Our hearts continue to be with all of her loved ones. Rest in peace…
