Whoa!!
We had no idea one of the highest grossing animated features of all-time almost never made it out of the gate!
When Pixar was nearly finished with Toy Story 2, a nameless employee accidentally tripped some sort of self-destruct sequence on the company├óΓé¼Γäós hard drive and they lost HUGE chunks of data — which, in a computer generated film, is everything.
The files containing Woody and a few of the films most memorable sequences were inadvertently deleted and the company feared they lost over a year’s worth of work and millions of dollars.
In the video (above), the creative team recounts the strangely exhilarating tale of the film that almost never was.
As Buzz Lightyear would say:

Thankfully, a work-from-home Mom had a backup of the whole film on her home computer and
we Toy Story fans never knew the difference!
