FDA Approves New Drug For Type 2 Diabetes

Good news for diabetes sufferers!

The FDA has approved a new drug called Tradjenta for adults with type 2 diabetes, the most common form of the disease, affecting 95% of the 24 million people with the disease in the United States.

The drug works by blocking the DPP-4 enzyme, which releases insulin-boosting hormones that help control blood sugar levels and has been approved as a stand-alone treatment or in combination with others.

Side effects of Tradjenta include respiratory infection, sore throat, muscle pain and headache, but nothing major.

Let’s hope this new drug helps out all of those suffering from type 2 diabetes who can’t control their blood sugar with older medicines!
