To add insult to injury, Travis Kelce was reportedly super sick before his heartbreaking loss at the Super Bowl.
In a new episode of The Insiders podcast on Wednesday, Kansas City Chiefs General Manager Brett Veach revealed that Trav was “battling a pretty big illness” ahead of Super Bowl LIX. He said he wasn’t “making excuses” for the tight end, but it explains his performance on the field. Bummer. Bad timing to get sick!

At the end of the day though, according to Brett, that 22-40 score against the Philadelphia Eagles was rough — so even if Taylor Swift‘s boyfriend was on his A-game, it wouldn’t have made much of a difference. He remarked:
“We didn’t have the end to our season that we hoped for.”
The GM said his team “picked a bad day to have a bad day” but this will be “motivation to get better” in the future:
“You learn more from your losses than your wins.”
We hope Trav is feeling better now! On to the next season!
