Kayla Nicole is getting so candid about the very awkward position she’s in.
The sports broadcaster was in a relationship with Travis Kelce for five years, one of the big relationships in both of their lives. But his fame level has skyrocketed now that he’s dating Taylor Swift. And now Kayla is perpetually known as the ex. It’s rough. But she’s got a good head on her shoulders about the whole thing.
Opening up on the Unapologetically Angel podcast Thursday, she really gave fans some insight into what it’s like being the ex of the Kansas City Chiefs star these days.

When host Angel Reese asked about Trav, Kayla had only kind words, saying:
“He’s a great guy. That was a good time in my life.”
However, if she sees him on the street these days? They will NOT be hugging and exchanging pleasantries! She admitted:
“I’ll probably hit him with, like, a head nod. That’s about it.”
What? Why?? Well, it’s all about his status with T.Swift. Kayla feels there’s an unspoken agreement that they are no longer in a position to be allowed to speak to one another. She explained:
“We’ve seen each other in public spaces before but it’s — I think that we’re both aware of the nature of his new situation that there’s just no room really for us to communicate or acknowledge each other publicly without it being spun into something crazy.”
“His new situation.” Not just the relationship, but the fame that comes along with it. The fact it could be misconstrued. It doesn’t even sound necessarily like she thinks Taylor herself is preventing it, like a lot of new girlfriends do with exes. She’s implying it could generate the type of headlines and theories that stick around and screw things up. Very savvy of her. Especially given how she’s been treated (as “the ex”) by some of Tay’s less reasonable, more terminally online fans.
