Travis Kelce Reveals How Taylor Swift Inspired His Decision Not To Retire!

Travis Kelce is always getting so inspired by Taylor Swift!

This week, the tight end announced he’s playing another NFL season with the Kansas City Chiefs after tons of retirement speculation. It’s clear he’s not at all ready to hang up his jersey! He opened up about his decision on Tuesday’s episode of The Pat McAfee Show, shouting:

“Let’s go! Making another run at it, baby, and the Chiefs are making moves, Pat.”

The 36-year-old said he needed to “take a step back” after the last season ended to wrap his mind around what to do — and it was TayTay that motivated him to keep playing!

He gushed:

“We share the same love for what we do, and we’ve had this…desire. I’m still in love with this game.”

And he means it! The athlete detailed:

“I still love going to work, putting on the pads, grinding it out and just playing the game, you know, and I think my best opportunity was playing for the Chiefs yet again and running this thing back with Pat Mahomes and Coach [Andy] Reid. And got my guy Eric Bieniemy, Coach Bieniemy back, and there’s a lot of pieces in Kansas City that I just I absolutely love and I can’t wait to get back in the building with.”

But back to Taylor, he said it’s “amazing to see” his wife-to-be “keep going to the table, keep finding new things to write about, keep finding new melodies…and on top of that, still seeing her have that love and joy in what she does.” He elaborated:

“Yeah, of course, that’s motivating. That’s motivating for anyone to see, let alone my fiancée, and knowing that I’m going through something where I’m trying to figure out what exactly the future holds for me, something like that definitely motivates me to say, ‘You know what, I’m not done either.'”

Travis insisted he’s “still got some ideas in the back of [his] mind” and “still got some juice to play this game.” And so with all that said, he knew from pretty early on into the offseason that he was returning:

“It was pretty short and brief, and the Chiefs knew where I was the entire time on it.”

He also joked he’s taken after the singer and started dropping “Easter eggs” about his plans, even though a January comment that sparked theories about his decision to return was accidental. Hah!
