Say it isn’t so, Charlaine Harris!
In May, Charlaine’s latest installment of the Sookie Stackhouse series will hit shelves and according to the author, it will be one of the last times Sookie’s adventures make it to the page.
With the uber success of True Blood, the HBO series adapted from her novels, Charlaine has had a lot of pressure to continue writing Sookie’s story. But now she’s ready to write something different, so she is preparing fans for the end. While talking about the 12th installment of the series, Dead Reckoning, she told sources:
“Truthfully, the next two books will probably be the last two books in the series. I still love Sookie, but I’m beginning to want to write something else, and Sookie’s kind of taken over my life. I was able to write other things for the first few years I was involved in Sookie, but then after the start of the television show she took over so much of my time because of my increased publicity obligations that it’s been very hard to write other things, and I really need to do that.”
All good things must come to an end and perhaps with a conclusion in sight, Charlaine will give fans her best book yet. Still, we hate to think there will be no more tales of vampire woe out of Bon Temps!
At least there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight for True Blood! That eases the pain!
