Donald Trump has had a rough go with the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool restoration… and now, he’s turning to AI surveillance! Because nothing says conservative small government values like digital surveillance of Americans!
In preparation for the United States’ 250th birthday on July 4, the 47th president has been attempting to get the Reflecting Pool in what he considers tip-top shape — by contracting a company tied to one of his campaign donors. Per CBS News:
“The federal government awarded a company owned by a Trump donor a $1.7 million contract to install a new water cleaning system for the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, federal records show, as President Trump pushes to overhaul the pool — and struggles with a bout of algae and a peeling paint job.”
In April, he had the pool drained so it could be resurfaced and repainted blue in a multimillion dollar renovation. But just last week, large chunks of paint were seen peeling off and floating in the body of water as algae blooms once again plagued the pool, causing massive discoloration. Oof!

On Tuesday, the convicted felon took to Truth Social to reveal “Six people have been arrested, and seven people have been cited, for the damage they did to our Country’s now beautiful Reflecting Pool.” Without citing any evidence, he claimed a “350 foot gash, made by a very sharp knife or razors” was made in the pool, causing the damage.
“It was purposefully and criminally done, and somebody had to work very hard, probably in the dark of night, to create such a condition. Likewise, the small area at the bottom of the Pool was cut and powerfully lifted off the surface leaving very jagged, uneven edges.”
He claimed it’s now being worked on once again, but that whether it will be all said and done before July 4 remains to be seen:
“We will drain some of the water, either immediately before or after the Fourth of July, to do the permanent repair.”
But in the meantime, he’s beefing up security. On Tuesday, TMZ reported large trailers were being wheeled into the Reflecting Pool memorial area equipped with AI cameras that offer real-time tracking, intrusion detection, HD monitoring, strobe lights, automated spotlights and more.
Yeesh! He must be SERIOUS about keeping out alleged vandals. That or it’s a convenient opportunity to get more digital surveillance going around America’s capital!
In addition to the AI-powered security system, Trump had fences installed and stationed National Guard officials there to patrol and keep a watchful eye — hence the arrests!
