While Annie Lennox may be cool with Beyonc├â┬⌐, she still isn’t down with Queen B’s twerking.
If y’all don’t remember, back in September Annie made some controversial comments about Beyonc├â┬⌐’s feminist influence (or lack thereof), calling her ‘feminist lite.’

Naturally, the singer’s comments caused an uproar amongst Beyonc├â┬⌐’s fans and supporters, so much so that Annie was compelled to address her opinions in a recent interview.
She explained:
“Well, I didn’t specifically criticize Beyonc├â┬⌐. I was being asked about Beyonc├â┬⌐ in the context of feminism, and I was thinking at the time about very impactful feminists that have dedicated their lives to the movement of liberating women and supporting women at the grass roots, and I was saying, ‘Well, that’s one end of the spectrum, and then you have the other end of the spectrum.'”
Hmmm, okay, at least she wasn’t calling out B specifically…
She added:
“Listen, twerking is not feminism. That’s what I’m referring to. It’s not├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥it’s not liberating, it’s not empowering. It’s a sexual thing that you’re doing on a stage; it doesn’t empower you. That’s my feeling about it…Maybe this is a good thing because it creates debate.”
Well, Beyonc├â┬⌐ is definitely more than her ‘twerking,’ Annie, and we’re sure her fans would agree!
While we have a feeling Annie’s clarifying comments won’t help the situation too much, we think it’s positive that she attempted to calm things down!
