This is certainly a miraculous story!
Lindalva Pinheiro da Silva was only 24 weeks along with twin boys before they told their momma they were ready to come on out and greet the world!
The 35-year-old was only near the end of her second trimester when her water broke, so her babies were coming a lot sooner than they expected.
Lindalva said of that fateful moment in March:
“I panicked. It wasn├óΓé¼Γäót time. It was too early. I knew I could lose the babies.”
Such a scary moment! Luckily for her, she didn’t lose her baby boys.
Upon her arrival, the doctors at Tufts Medical Center in Boston did their best to delay her labor since an estimated 50 percent of babies born that early rarely survive.
However, just four days after her water broke, Alexandre was born, weighing at 1 pound, 10 ounces.
Ronaldo Antunes, the father, told his wife he could hold his son in the palm of his hand! Yikes! Such a tiny boy!
After three painless pushes, the first twin was out of the womb. Lindalva recalled of the moment:
“They brought him to me to give him a kiss. He was crying, but he was very tiny and I was very scared. I said to my husband, ‘He’s too tiny.'”
The doctors immediately took Alexandre away to neonatal intensive care while Lindalva stayed in the delivery room. In fact, after the first born was taken away, the second twin remained in the womb and her cervix closed back up!
Lindalva said the docs reassured her, saying this is definitely a good thing for the second baby.
She remembered:
“They said, ‘Maybe you’ll deliver in hour or a day or one week. The longer he stays inside, the more he will grow.'”
Then 24 days after Alexandre was born, his baby brother decided it was time to depart the womb and the extra time spent in there made a HUGE difference.
Now just three months after that fateful day in March, her twin boys are heathy, both weighing more than 6 pounds each!
The new momma said of her beautiful twin boys:
“They├óΓé¼Γäóre my miracle babies. Ronaldo because he stayed inside, and Alexandre because he├óΓé¼Γäós a survivor.”
Alexandre is still a lot smaller than his brother, Ronaldo, and is still under the watchful eye of doctors.
Thankfully they’re both okay now and both parents are awaiting for the day they can take their beautiful baby boys home from the hospital!
