Twins Make Lifetime Anorexia Pact

This is sad.

Mary and Katy Campbell were 11 when they made a decision that would snowball and eventually ruin their lives.

Said Mary:

“We were standing at the top of the stairs and heard our Dad remark: ‘Gosh, those girls are becoming young women, aren’t they? They’re getting hips.’”

This harmless remark triggered something in the twins, and they made pact to never gain weight.

Said Katy:

├óΓé¼┼ôWe were incensed by Dad├óΓé¼Γäós remark. I remember screaming at him: ├óΓé¼╦£I├óΓé¼Γäóm never going to start my periods!├óΓé¼Γäó We decided that day that if we stopped eating, we would lose our ├óΓé¼╦£hips.├óΓé¼Γäó I wanted to punish him and Mum — and I suppose that├óΓé¼Γäós what we├óΓé¼Γäóve both been doing ever since.├óΓé¼┬¥

At 33, the twins have still not been able to let go of their problem, and it’s threatening their lives.

Katy continued:

“I can’t walk any more. My back hurts, my heartbeat is irregular, I’ve got osteoporosis, chronic gastric pain and pancreatitis. I’m on diuretics because my kidneys don’t work.”

They just checked in to a hospital and plan to stay for a few months to attempt to recover.

This is heartbreaking for both them and their family.
