And for good reason!
Two groups out of St. Louis have canceled an appearance by Chick-Fil-A president Dan Cathy because of the company’s association with an anti-gay group.
Earlier this year, LGBT activists spoke out against the company when one of the chains in Philadelphia was involved with an event run by anti-gay group. Later, it was revealed that Chick-Fil-A founder Truett Cathy had started a marriage retreat that does not allow same-sex couple to attend its conferences.
Cathy was scheduled to speak at a March 18 event, but the group decided to cancel after the Missouri gay rights group PROMO brought the controversy to their attention and asked them to reconsider.
Chamber head Ellen Gale spoke of their decision to cancel, saying:
“We are a pro-diversity culture here and certainly don├óΓé¼Γäót want to offend anyone. We didn’t know anything about this when he was booked.”
We’re glad word is getting out there and shame on Chick-Fil-A for not sending out an apology.
