Former College & NBA Star Dead Of Alleged 'Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound' After Shootout With LAPD

no title
A former UCLA basketball star and NBA player for several seasons with the Sacramento Kings is dead after an apparent police shootout and standoff on Saturday morning.
Tyler Honeycutt, just 27 years old, was pronounced dead on Saturday morning at his home in Los Angeles from what is right now being called a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The former basketball star was apparently involved in some type of “hours-long standoff” with the LAPD, though it’s not immediately clear what led to it, or why he was being targeted by cops.
At one point, police allege there was some type of shootout between Honeycutt and officers, though the cops are right now claiming the former basketball star was not struck by police bullets during the alleged gun battle.
Instead, cops are claiming Honeycutt “appears to have sustained injuries consistent with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.”
Cops are further claiming that once a SWAT team was able to bust into Honeycutt’s house, where they found him unresponsive and pronounced him dead, they also found a gun on the scene that they believe was the suicide weapon.

This all apparently started when Honeycutt’s mother called the police on Friday afternoon, concerned that her son was behaving erratically, and things escalated from there, according to TMZ.
Honeycutt had been a star basketball player at UCLA, including earning himself All-Conference honors in 2011, before he was drafted into the NBA by the Kings.
He played in Sacramento for two seasons there, and later spent time in Europe playing pro basketball, as well.
Again… he was just 27 years old.
