We are SO glad the UN just happened to be there!
We can’t imagine what would’ve happened had this little boy — 4-year-old Marwan — not run into the staff stationed in Jordan!
It was Hala Gorani, a reporter and anchor for CNN International, who Tweeted the amazing photo of Marwan approaching the UN staff after being separated from his family while fleeing Syria (above)! He was found in the Jordanian desert, with all of his stuff in a tiny plastic bag.
The best news? They were able to reunite him with his family!
The saddest part of this is the bigger implications: the Syrian conflict has killed more than 130,000 people and forced six million to leave their homes — making it about 2,486,000 refugees who have fled Syria and relocated in the Middle East. Everything about that is unacceptable!
What strength this little boy has, though! Incredible!
