United Airlines Pilots FINALLY Address The Controversial Passenger Removal Viral Video

no title
Speaking out.
United Airlines pilots have FINALLY spoken out following the controversial viral video which featured Dr. David Dao being aggressively dragged off an overbooked flight. It’s about damn time, guys!

In a statement released by the United Master Executive Council (AKA the union representing United’s 12.5K pilots), the group noted:

“The safety and well-being of our passengers is the highest priority for United pilots, and this should not have escalated into a violent encounter. United pilots are infuriated by this event.”

As they should be. However, the union attempted to divert some of the blame from United as they continued:

“This occurred on one of our contracted Express carriers, separately owned and operated by Republic Airline, and was ultimately caused by the grossly inappropriate response by the Chicago Department of Aviation. No United employees were involved in the physical altercation.”

Fair, but the incident still occurred under United’s corporate umbrella. Nonetheless, the United pilots seem resolved in carrying on with their jobs amid this scandal. The letter concluded:

“We cannot let this huge distraction affect our ability to do our jobs. We have successfully flown through more turbulent times, and we will weather this storm as well.”

We’re certain United CEO Oscar Munoz appreciates this public display of support, especially since Dao is still considering whether or not he’ll sue the airline. It sucks to be a United employee right now, huh??
We guess we’ll just have to wait and see how this whole thing plays out!
