Female Tennis Player Hit With Violation For Changing Her Shirt On Court & Twitter Is Calling Out The ‘Double Standard’

Tennis player US open violation

Another ridiculous double standard in the world of tennis.
French tennis player Alizé Cornet was hit with a violation at the US Open on Tuesday for discreetly taking off her shirt to readjust it on the court, and fans are not happy about it.
The violation came after players were given a 10-minute break to cool off and rehydrate, given that temperatures at the Queens, New York located tournament sweltered to over 100 degrees.
Cornet popped on a fresh shirt during the break, but realized it was on backward when she returned to the court. She then quickly took off the shirt and put it on correctly, prompting umpire Christian Rask to slap her with a code violation.

An outcry of critics later broke out on Twitter, blasting the Women’s Tennis Association’s rule that a player is only allowed to remove her shirts while off-court as archaic and pretty damn sexist, since male players free their nips on the reg.
No such rule applies to the male players, plenty of whom took their shirts of the same day to combat the heat and flex their chests. But heaven forbid a woman flashes her sports bra for a hot second, right?
Watch the clip to see Cornet’s quick wardrobe change, along with a few reactions (below).
