In New Zealand it’s become pretty common for most teams to do a pre-game M├ä┬üori dance known as “haka” to strike fear into the hearts of their opponents, ESPECIALLY in rugby!
But unfortunately, it doesn’t look like the intimidation factor really translates to basketball!!
The kiwis found this out the hard way when they kicked off their match against the US with a haka dance, and it was met with, well, confusion!
Some of America’s brightest stars in Derrick Rose and James Harden stared in confusion as New Zealand players chanted and hissed and all of that good stuff!
To make matters even worse, New Zealand lost 71-98! OUCH!
Ch-ch-check out the awkward moment (below)!
