Hi Elisha
Using an independent base coat and top coat are imperative for taking care of your nails. A base coat is designed to protect the nail and to help the adhesion of the nail color. The top coat is designed to seal in the color, to leave it shiny and to protect from chipping or peeling. Some brands out there do offer an all in one product but my recommendation is for the famous names Lumos top and base coat they will give even the most basic of home manicurists a professional finish to their manicures.
