How incredibly disheartening.
A bill was introduced in Utah that required all publicly funded programs, laws, and regulations, to ensure they exclude families headed by gay and lesbian couples.
Ugh! Ridiculous! Absolutely absurd!
And it only gets worse when you actually read the bill, written by Rep. LaVar Christensen.
The bill states that “marriage and family predate all governments and are supported by and consistent with the Laws of Nature and God, the Creator and Supreme Judge of the World, affirmed in the nation├óΓé¼Γäós founding Declaration of Independence.” It also says, “families anchored by both a father and a mother, fidelity within marriage, and enduring devotion to the covenants and responsibilities of marriage are the desired norm.”
Screw your desired norms. This is America, where everyone should have the right to be treated equally. We shudder to think the kind of damage this is going to do to poor people living in Utah.
Shameful! Equality for all!
