The ladies of Vanderpump Rules are sticking together!
Co-stars Stassi Schroeder and Brittany Cartwright spoke out in defense of their gal pal Katie Maloney-Schwartz after a couple of mean online critics appeared to body shame and make fun of her look at a pre-Oscars event on Sunday. Not cool!
VOTE: Who Was Best Dressed At The 2020 Oscars??
In case you missed it, the aforementioned cast members, along with Katie’s husband Tom Schwartz and stars Beau Clark and Jax Taylor, all joined E! News host Carissa Culiner for a segment on the network’s Academy Awards coverage. The crew dressed to impress ahead of Hollywood’s biggest night and posted celebratory group pics of their looks on social media after the special pre-show.
It’s customary for viewers to have an opinion on all of the eye-catching fashion inspired by the Oscars — heck, we even ask you to vote on who you think was best dressed. But we can agree there’s certainly a fine line to cross between commentary and straight-up nasty criticism, right?
Well, a few “fans” had a lot to say about Katie’s look in the comments section of a group shot that Brittany uploaded to Instagram! Read through some of those unfortunate messages (below):
“Wtf is Katy [SIC] wearing. As her friend you should have helped her out. Lol
”
“I love you brittany, stassi, ya’ll look amazing! The guys too, sorry Idk who dressed Katie”
“Someone needs to have an intervention with Katie’s outfit choices.”
“Katie couldn’t dress less sexy if she tried”
“I mean who is Katie’s stylist let me help you girl!!!”

As you can see, Katie rocked an off-the-shoulder black blazer dress with a glittery gold pleated skirt and black bow in her hair to complete the look.
While this outfit might not be your cup of tea, we hardly think it warranted this especially hurtful comment about Maloney-Schwartz, which she reposted to her IG story for the world to see:
“You see the problem is that we watched Katie from the beginning and half the issue is not the outfit but the weight gain which make the outfits look a lot worse than they would look if she was in shape. That, plus her mean personality give out a bad vibe for her. I feel bad for her husband knowing that he probably gets laid once a month and if… their relationship is my worst fear.”
Fans of Pump Rules know Katie’s weight has been a sensitive topic over the years, most notably after her feud with co-star James Kennedy who viciously fat-shamed her on the show. All things considered, this just sounds so wrong!!
Here Comes Backup!
Of course, Schroeder and Cartwright were quick to defend their friend! Stassi took the lead, writing:
“Everyone talking s**t on Katie’s amazingly gorge alternative Parisian-chic Carrie Bradshaw look can go shave their backs now.”
And Brittany chimed in to add even more words of support:
“She looks amazing!!! Idk what y’all are talking about what so ever! Her style is different and edgy and I love it!!! ?”
Yasss!
Like we said, her outfit might not have been your favorite choice, but that doesn’t mean people get to attack and pick apart her body or personality for it.
