Shocker! Surprise!
The Vatican is pissed that last week’s US presidential election caused the approval of gay marriage in three states, and is now vowing to use it’s power of prayer political and social influence to fight BACK against… um… people legally expressing their love we guess!
Father Federico Lombardi, the Vatican’s chief spokesman, expressed on Vatican Radio:
“It is clear that in Western countries there is a widespread tendency to modify the classic vision of marriage between a man and woman, or rather to try to give it up, erasing its specific and privileged legal recognition compared to other forms of union… The Church is the only institution to say that, while persecuting homosexuals in undoubtedly unjust, opposing marriage between people of the same sex is a point of view that must be respected.”
Alright, fair enough, Mr. Lombardi, we agree that religious belief of any sort should be respected… but that doesn’t mean EVERYONE has to agree with it or support it!
And it’s obvious that there is a new shift toward the acceptance of gay marriage, as Spain recenly rejected an appeal to their law allowing same sex marriage, and France is currently considering their own law concerning its legalization!
We just can’t wait to see how this issue will soon be handled in the US Supreme Court… will the federal government finally recognize the rights of same sex couples who wish to legally bond their love forever (or until divorce)?!
Well, we know the Vatican is hoping that their God will surely prevent this blasphemy… although why their God didn’t just stop the votes from happening, or from people from being gay in the first place, is a logical question we’d like Mr. Federico Lombardi to answer!
