You don’t get to be one of the biggest brands in the world without weathering some controversy!
Victoria’s Secret has found itself in hot water in the UK after the release of their latest ad campaign for “The Perfect ‘Body.'”
Someone in marketing is having a bad day right now!
We’re not sure why the word body is in quotation marks in the ads, however. Maybe they meant for “body” to represent something else, like the volume of the models’ hair, but that seems unlikely considering they have a bunch of half-naked models in the ads as well.
Many have turned to social media to criticize the lingerie giant for suggesting that the only type of perfect body is of the supermodel variety.

Three young women from Leeds, UK, named Frances Black, Gabriella Kountourides, and Laura Ferris, have even started a Change.org petition to urge the retailer to change its slogan.
The petition in part reads:
We would like Victoria’s Secret to apologise and take responsibility for the unhealthy and damaging message that their ├óΓé¼╦£Perfect Body’ campaign is sending out about women’s bodies and how they should be judged.
We would like Victoria’s Secret to change the wording on their advertisements for their bra range Body, to something that does not promote unhealthy and unrealistic standards of beauty, as well as pledge to not use such harmful marketing in the future.

Victoria’s Secret isn’t exactly known for its body diversity, but we have to admit this ad campaign is extremely tone-deaf.
Thoughts???
