Viola Davis' Mom Won't Watch The Help

Viola Davis‘s mother can’t watch her daughter’s Oscar nominated performance in The Help. She says the content of the film is too “painful.”
Viola says the film’s story hits too close to home to her mother, who grew up in the segregated South. The actress admitted:

“My mother has yet to see the movie├óΓé¼┬ª I think it’s just because — I think it’s painful. You have a whole generation of women who don’t want to be reminded of the past.”

So Sad!
Viola said when she asked her mom for stories, to help prepare for her roll, she didn’t even want to talk about it. The actress said the only info her mom gave her was:

“My grandmother was treated very cruelly by her employers.”

Davis should be so proud of her work on The Help.
Even if her mother hasn’t seen it, we’re sure she’s proud of her too.
