Wal-Mart Goes High Tech

Facebook is doing what it can to stay ahead of Google Plus, so the social networking giant has decided to team up with Wal-Mart on a new business idea.
The partnership will create custom Facebook pages for Wal-Mart’s more than 3,500 stores.
The concept behind it all is to make shopping at one’s local Wal-Mart more personal by allowing customers to interact with their local store online as well as receive coupons, sales details, and special offers online.
An exec for Wal-Mart reveals:

“This allows us to make our stores relevant on a local level. This addresses our ‘next-generation’ customers who are using a lot of social media. A national message is often not as relevant. This is just scratching the surface. We are just getting started on a social media revolution.”

Hopes are to later personalize offers directly to users based on the items they like.
And before Black Friday next month, customers can also receive a map of their local store to help them find the best sales.
