We wonder if this is a good transition for Thom Browne. The menswear designer will soon start a collection for the ladies.
He reveals about his new collection:
“It’s very focused on jackets and trousers and outerwear. I think it’s what people expect from me, very men’s-inspired women’s clothing. Gray flannel, navy cashmere. Good, all-American menswear influence, but fitting in a cool feminine way. I want it to be very understandable.
Personally, when I see it on the girls, I think it looks so good. I like the idea of men’s tailoring on girls. It’s very strong and sexy in a non-overt way.”
So basically he’s dressing them up as men?
The women’s clothing will start out as a small collection and grow slowly over time. Adds Browne:
“This time I have more time to focus on it. For September, it will be a bit bigger than before, with more styles within the categories, but very focused. In the next couple seasons it will become a fully developed collection.”
We’re cool with the men’s-inspired clothing, but we know our ladies like variety, and that means a mixture of suits, dresses, skirts, and blouses.
What do U think of his men’s-inspired women’s clothing collection idea?
