We Have A New Spider-Man!!!

It’s official!
Columbia Pictures has selected a new, young actor and Tobey Maguire is all but a distant memory!
The lucky young man swinging into the role is Andrew Garfield, a relatively unknown actor in the US with a limited resume working alongside big names like Tom Cruise, Meryl Streep, Heath Ledger and most recently, Justin Timberlake in The Social Network.
The studio seems pleased about their selection, most likely because they got him for a pittance compared to Tobey, and are singing his praises from the highest peak! Director Marc Webb, who will begin production on the flick this December, made a statement about the young actor:

“Though his name may be new to many, those who know this young actor’s work understand his extraordinary talents. He has a rare combination of intelligence, wit, and humanity. Mark my words, you will love Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker.”

Consider the words marked and ready to be thrown back in your face if this kid is an epic FAIL.
We don’t think he will be though. He’s cute with dreamy eyes and tousled hair. That’s big for the ladies (and others…). Plus, he has that geek factor, which is really essential to playing Peter Parker. Point for the nerds!
