We think this is probably for the best! It’s had a good run!
The sixth season of Weeds concluded last night with a pretty shocking twist, which has left many wondering how on Earth the seventh season is going to unfold.
Creator Jenji Kohan is remaining pretty tight-lipped on the details, but instead revealed that after next year, the Showtime series will most likely be coming to an end!
She explains:
“Everyone’s contract is up next year, [including] the actors and mine. Seven years is a good run, and I’d rather leave while on top. I’d never say never, but I have a feeling this might be it. It’s very strange and exciting and scary and sad in a lot of ways. We have such an extraordinary team. I would hope to take everyone over to [my] next project, including some of the actors, if possible. I think it’s such a strong group of people across the board. That will be very hard to let go of. However, I think growth is an obligation of a writer and it’s time to stretch my wings.”
She makes a good point! And let’s face it – she’s taken the show in a lot more directions than we ever could have anticipated!
It will be sad to say good-bye to Botwin family, though!
Let’s keep our fingers crossed that the (potentially) final season won’t disappoint!
