It was a very strong weekend overall at the box office the last couple days, but especially so for A Quiet Place!
John Krasinski‘s horror-thriller — which has less than three total minutes of dialogue across the entire film — opened to a very strong $50 million take from more than 3,500 theaters all across North America.
That put it WELL ahead of expectations for the weekend, while also making it one of the top debuts of all time for a horror film!

Costing just $17 million to make by producers Platinum Dunes, A Quiet Place also stars Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe.
The pic also boasts a B+ CinemaScore and a very strong 97% from Rotten Tomatoes.
But it wasn’t the only film that did well at the box office this weekend!! Moviegoers spiked 36% more than this same time frame last year, and you could feel it all around the box office.
Blockers fought off that persistent R-rated comedy curse, and took in a strong $21.4 million in its debut weekend. The Ted Kennedy scandal pic Chappaquiddick launched with a stronger-than-expected $6.1 million. And Ready Player One held up well in its sophomore weekend, falling back just 40% to a $25.1 million take for the three day period.
