Come along, won’t you?
Cleve Jones, an important activist who was privileged to work alongside the legendary gay rights leader Harvey Milk, announced plans Sunday for a march in Washington, D.C., this October to demand equality for gay and lesbian Americans.
Milk’s protege sees the combination of recent events, including the election of President Obama and Proposition 8, as a sign that things should continue to push forward and more fervently in the demand of gay rights.
Jones promises: “All of this working together has opened this new chapter. I intend to make the most of it.”
In front of a crowd of thousands yesterday at the annual Utah Pride Festival, Jones announced the planning of a march for October 11. The assembly will coincide with National Coming Out Day and launch a new chapter in the gay rights movement.
Pack your bags people!
We be marching!
