So with all the things going on in the world today, you know what topic was getting the most buzz on Capitol Hill Wednesday morning?
Vending machines.
The National Automated Merchandising Association, which we had no idea even existed, showed off its latest gadget that is suppose to revitalize the vending machine industry, while also working to improve the snacking habits of Americans.
They are calling it a Diji-Touch (we like our name better) and it is an interactive touch-screen machine that provides digital images of food along with nutritional content. After selecting an item on the touch screen, the virtual junk food enlarges, spins around, and shows the buyer how many calories are in the package of Yodels before buying them.
The snacking companies getting involved in the project think the idea is “fun” and “playful,” but would also create jobs and more revenue for their industry.
It’s cool looking, but seems pretty extravagant to us.
