So scary.
Last we heard about the News of the World phone hacking scandal, the former editor of the publication Rebekah Brooks was arrested on charges of conspiracy and bribing police for information…but was released early Monday morning.
Now, we’re very sad to report that Sean Hoare, a former NOTW employee who was one of the first to blow the whistle on the scandal, has been found dead.
Hoare “was discovered at his home in Watford, Hertfordshire, after concerns were raised about his whereabouts.”
Here’s what Hertfordshire police had to say about his death:
“The death is being treated as ‘unexplained, but not thought to be suspicious.'”
In his whistle-blowing, Hoare specifically called out former NOTW editor Andy Coulson, who later became Prime Minister David Cameron’s communications director. Wow.
Our thoughts are with Sean Hoare’s family and friends during this difficult time.
We’d expect we’ll learn more soon as new information comes to the surface.
