Back in December, gay actor Richard Chamberlain advised that other gay actors stay in the closet due to the “tremendous amount of homophobia in our culture.”
Will & Grace co-creator Max Mutchnick does NOT agree.
Here’s what he had to say in response to Chamberlain’s advice:
├óΓé¼┼ôI don├óΓé¼Γäót think the audience is as homophobic as the media would have us believe. Neither is Hollywood. I├óΓé¼Γäóve never denied an actor a job because he was gay, but I have denied actors jobs because they suck.”
“There is no blacklist that forbids gay actors from playing straight roles. Convince us you├óΓé¼Γäóre in love with her and we├óΓé¼Γäóll hire you. And I promise we won├óΓé¼Γäót care who you├óΓé¼Γäóre cuddling up with when you├óΓé¼Γäóre off camera.”
