ESPN has apparently started a ‘rumor’ that Green Bay Packers great Brett Favre is coming out of retirement.
The sports channel said that an unidentified Packers source revealed that Favre told the team’s coach just recently that he has the itch to play again.
Favre responded to the ESPN report by telling his hometown newspaper, the Sun Herald in Gulfport, Miss., that “it’s all rumor.”
When Favre announced his retirement back in April he said, “I’ve given everything I possibly could give to this organization, the game of football, and I don’t think I’ve got anything left to give And that’s it. I know I can play. But I don’t think I want to.”
BUT according to the AP, less than two months later, he told reporters he might be open to returning if the Packers’ replacement quarterback Aaron Rodgers was injured.
Guess we’ll just have to kick back and see how this all plays out.
But, isn’t it annoying when athletes/musicians/actors say they’re retiring and don’t really mean it?
