Woody Allen has avoided talking in detail about his abuse scandal for over two decades, but it looks like that silence is coming to an end.
After Dylan Farrow wrote her open letter to the New York Times accusing her adopted father of sexual abuse, the controversy is coming to a head.
Even Woody himself can’t stay quiet anymore.
The Times Editorial Page is in talks with the Blue Jasmine director to pen his own response to the letter – and it was his idea! Editor Andrew Rosenthal says:
“They asked and we said, ‘Yes, send it in.'”
So will Woody be writing an open letter back to his daughter? Will it be a blanket denial to the public? Sounds like it might be more the former. Andrew added:
“Normally, we don’t publish a direct response. In this case, it was so personal, we thought that we should.”
They may want to read it and make sure first. One thing is definite though – everyone invested in the case can’t wait to see what he has to say.
