Wyclef Jean is understandably “appalled” after he was mistakenly handcuffed in Los Angeles early Tuesday morning.
Here’s what went down: According to CBS News, authorities responded around 1 a.m. after a robbery was reported at a Sunset Blvd. gas station, where a wallet was stolen at gunpoint.
The 47-year-old singer was leaving a nearby music studio, when cops noticed his vehicle matched the description the victim gave. He was then detained and handcuffed by the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department at the scene.

The Sweetest Girl artist responded to the “case of mistaken identity” in a lengthy Twitter rant detailing his side of the story — note, he references the LAPD, but it was actually the sheriff’s department that was involved:

Nor was I told why I was being cuffed. In the process I said my name and told them they have wrong person.

They proceeded to ignore me and I was treated like a criminal until other police showed up and pointed out they had wrong person.

I am sure no father wants his sons or daughters to see him in Handcuffs especially if he is innocent.

As some one who has law enforcers in my family, I was appalled by this behavior of the LAPD.

Cops eventually arrested the right suspect, located the gun, and recovered a stolen wallet.
