Emily Hartridge, a notable British YouTube star, personal trainer, and TV host, has passed away after being involved in an apparent electric scooter accident on Friday afternoon in London. She was just 35 years old.

The death was confirmed on Saturday afternoon by someone on her Instagram account, who shared the message with the world and shocked Hartridge’s longtime fans and followers.
The message on the IG post said, in full (below):
“Hi everyone. This is a horrible thing to have to say over Instagram but we know many of you were expecting to see Emily today and this is the only way to contact you all at once. Emily was involved in an accident yesterday and passed away. We all loved her to bits and she will never be forgotten. She has touched so many lives it’s hard to imagine things without her. She was a very special person xxx.”
So, so awful.
As you can see in the actual post (below), thousands of fans commented with their condolences and sadness upon hearing the news, too:

According to The Guardian, London’s Metropolitan Police Service released details late Friday of an incident involving a woman on an electric scooter, and a truck, which apparently collided at an intersection in the metro area (below):
“Police were called at 08:36hrs on Friday, 12 July to reports of an electric scooter being in collision with a lorry at Queenstown Road, junction with Battersea Park Road SW8. Officers and London Ambulance Service attended. A woman in her 30s had suffered serious injuries and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.”
Even though Hartridge herself was not named in the statement there, reports have confirmed that she was the victim. More media attention is sure to come from here, too, as The Guardian is also reporting that this is the “first fatal collision involving an e-scooter in Britain.”
Hartridge had been on YouTube for years and had since transitioned towards a growing career as a TV host across Britain. Her passing was mourned by many fellow creators and YouTubers who knew her — and even those who loved her work and her passion from afar. Even the YT Creators Twitter account mourned her passing with a special message on Saturday (below):
