And so the next generation of YouTube begins!
The website announced plans yesterday to create dozens of channels with original content from a variety of high profile producers, including Jay-Z, Ashton Kutcher, and Amy Poehler, marking its official jump into professional programming!
And it’s not just celebs – Reuters, Electus, Slate and The Wall Street Journal will also be contributing!
According to global head of content partnerships Robert Kyncl:
“Today, the Web is bringing us entertainment from an even wider range of talented producers, and many of the defining channels of the next generation are being born, and watched, on YouTube.”
The new initiative will apparently generate around 25 hours of new content a day, and are expected to launch next year!
Wow! This is a ballsy move!
But if it actually works – we’re looking at a whole new way to watch TV! We wonder what this will mean for cable companies?!
Get ready, social media! We predict this is going to be MASSIVE!
