The Pierre Berge – Yves Saint Laurent Foundation in Paris has chosen to celebrate Kabuki, a popular Japanese art form the fashion couple used to enjoy together on trips to Japan.
The exhibit features costumes, stamps, theatre programs and films from Kabuki productions during the 20th century, all which portray the essence of the Kabuki art form.
Aurelie Samuel, the curator of the event, describes the importance of Kabuki in fashion:
├óΓé¼┼ôKabuki has had a significant influence on fashion in Japan over the years…There were even publications about the actors, like the Japanese gossip magazines of their time.├óΓé¼┬¥
Oh, it’s always so interesting to learn about fashion in every culture. We hope the exhibit comes state-side!
