The 23-year-old former One Direction singer famously ended his engagement to Little Mix‘s Perrie Edwards last August, and as you probably know, he’s already moved on to new (heavily rumored) flame Gigi Hadid.

However, you may be interested to know that Z actually wrote the sex-laden song while he was still engaged to Perrie!
During his in-depth interview with Beats 1‘s Zane Lowe, the Mind of Mine solo artist broke down the time frame for his new album, sharing that Pillowtalk was actually written in May of 2015… three months before he broke up with the X Factor winner!

We’re pretty sure their relationship was already doomed since Zayn had it in his head that he needed to abandon his entire 1D image, but we wonder what Gigi thinks about this…
